Vent Installation

When completing a termite treatment in Georgia, all termite companies are required to install vents or ventilators in crawlspace foundation walls. The Georgia Department of Agriculture requires the procedure along with the installation of a vapor barrier. The science or logic behind this procedure is that it minimizes the amount of moisture in the crawlspace, which in turn will minimize the presence of termites.

Termites are moisture oriented creatures so the less moisture in and around a structure the less likely termites will enter and infest the area. The requirements for vents consist of having one vent every fifteen feet on four walls or a minimum of four vents on three walls.

If the vents cannot be installed as required, you will be asked to sign a form excusing this from your treatment and the reasons for the omission of the vent install must be noted. The reasons for excluding this must be logical and practical or the state will not recognize the omission as a complete treatment. It will not be recognized regardless, but the state at least will accept the exception form as adequate.

All Exterminating offers vent installation service in addition to treatment. Consult one of our professional technicians for details. Pricing on installing your vents or correcting inadequate ventilation will vary depending on structure and degree of work. Please present any questions regarding vent installation to our office or our sales representative.
